Websites can store small pieces of information in your browser. Here’s exactly what SmartBuuks stores, and why.

In short

  • We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t let ad networks track you on SmartBuuks.
  • We store only what’s needed to keep you signed in, remember your choices and save unsent work.
  • If we add analytics that need your permission, we’ll ask first - and you can say no.

1. What we store

Sign-in sessionWhy: Keeps you signed in on this device, so you don’t have to type your password on every page. How long: Until you sign out or the session expires
Your preferencesWhy: Remembers choices like Simple or Accountant view, a collapsed menu, and the account you last used. How long: Until you clear your browser
Unsent workWhy: Saves an invoice you’re still writing, so a weak connection doesn’t lose it.How long: Until you send or discard it
Copilot conversationWhy: Reopens the chat you were in when you come back to a page. How long: Until you close the browser tab
Your cookie choiceWhy: Remembers whether you said yes or no to analytics, so we don’t ask again. How long: Until you clear your browser

2. Why these don’t need a pop-up

Everything above is strictly necessary for SmartBuuks to work the way you asked, so the law doesn’t require a consent banner for it. Most of it is kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in cookies, and none of it is used for advertising.

3. Analytics and error reports

To fix problems and make SmartBuuks faster on slow connections, we may use:

  • Error reports (Sentry) - when something breaks, a technical report helps us fix it. We remove personal details like names and amounts.
  • Product analytics (PostHog) - which pages and buttons are used, counted with IDs only, never your customers’ names or amounts.

Product analytics only start after you choose Allow analytics in the cookie banner — Essential only is the default. Error reports store nothing on your device and never include your name, email or amounts. You can change your mind at any time:

4. Payment pages

When your customer pays an invoice online, the payment step is run by a licensed payment partner (for example Paystack, Flutterwave or MTN MoMo). Their pages may set their own cookies to prevent fraud. Their privacy notices explain how.

5. How to control it

You can clear stored data in your browser settings at any time. If you do, you’ll be signed out and unsent drafts will be lost. Signing out of SmartBuuks removes your session from that device.
